Billboard 0.9.6
Today I’m releasing Billboard 0.9.6, an iTunes controller and status display (for Intel and PowerPC Macs running Tiger or better)
This version brings all-new Shuffle and Repeat controls, as well as several bug fixes and improvements for Star Ratings, the Browser, the Control Bar, and transitions. The complete change log is available in the Links section in the upper right.
And don’t forget; as a thank-you to everyone who has sent in feedback, during this public beta period you can pre-purchase Billboard 1.0 for USD $9.95, that’s 50% off the final price of $19.95!

I love the changes in 0.9.5-6 (nice job with handling vertical monitors). I have one more request. I like that the star ratings and controls can hide, but I’d like the progress/time information to stay around. Any way those can be separated? (I liked the old time display a lot, actually.)

Tomis, you work here is really excellent. I am getting a great deal of pleasure from the application. Thank you. I would agree though that having the progress/time info displayed in an elegant way without the controls displayed would be nice. Also, I find that my high quality album art is degraded quite a bit through Billboard. I realize that performance is the primary consideration, but I wonder if being able to tweak it based on system performance is possible. Again, great work.

@SunByrne, Dave: I’ll see what I can come up with for persistent time display.
@Dave: There’s an automatic quality throttle built-in so as to not adversely impact system performance, but I’ve noticed that it’s not always as intelligent as it could be. I’m looking into improving it.
Thanks for the feedback!

Hi, nice software it is! this is what i’ve been looking for my carpc project. my mac mini is installed inside my car, using a touchscreen as mouse input. but, there are things that don’t work / fit when in touchscreen. They are:
1. The “Home” button left to the search bar, is too small. i can’t click it easily with my finger. It would be nice if it is bigger, at least can be touched with my finger. prev+pause+next control buttons on the lower screen is not too small, but i wish it is bigger
2. this is the most annoying: it is very very hard to double click (with touchscreen) to browse music / artist / albums. since no keyboard + no mouse on my setup, browsing songs with touchscreen is my only option. i’ve make double click delay longer in system preferences, but no luck, still very hard to do just one double click. I think it’s a bug in your application, because other application can do double click easily. when using mouse, it is easy to double click.
And i found some bug:
1. the horizontal zoom / magnify bar (like in iphoto) when browsing artist / albums is GREAT ! i can make my vertical scroll bar bigger. that’s exactly what i need. but, unfortunately, it can’t remember the position of the magnification i have set. for example, when you resize the artists list, then you go to another part (home, for example), then you go back to artists list, it went back to small, but the zoom bar is still set maximum.
anyway, billboard is soooo cool! i am going to purchase it later if i feel it fit in my touchscreen setup

Tomis,
Looking forward to the next version. Any issues with Snow Leopard compatibility in .96?
