Billboard 0.9.1

Today I’m releasing Billboard 0.9.1, a fullscreen iTunes status display (for Intel and PowerPC Macs running Tiger or better)

This release is mainly made up of bug fixes, with increased support for iTunes Shares, iTunes Store content, and radio streams. There are also a few new options in the preferences, including automatic removal of borders on album art. Also, visual feedback is now provided for keyboard shortcuts such as play/pause, volume up/down, etc.

With the goal of increasing iTunes integration, there is now an option (Preferences>Advanced) to forward unhandled keyboard shortcuts to iTunes, and a Billboard launch script which can be installed in iTunes’ Scripts menu. You can easily instal it from within Billboard.

As a thank-you to everyone who has sent in feedback, during this public beta period you can pre-purchase Billboard 1.0 for USD $9.95, that’s 50% off the final price of $19.95!

  2. In your home folder navigate to ~/Library/iTunes/Scripts

The next release will include an uninstall option for the launch script.

  3. Hi,
I just bought a license for Billboard. It was exactly what I was searching for.
Anyhow I still have 2 small feature requests:
    - compared to the music the voice is quite loud. An option that changes the volume as long as the speech is active would be nice.
    - I think it would be great if there was an option that speech is used only on streams. Currently I can enable it for streams. But what I want is to enable it for streams and disable it for “normal” music.
    Regards,
    Thomas

  4. I’ll look into adding both of those features. Thanks for the feedback!

  5. Really like the program. Almost perfect. Customizable font type and size would be great. Tilting options along the same lines as transitions would be great as well. Track time is a little quirky when making transitions. Maybe extend it to full screen width.

  6. Hi!
how about a clickable browsing and playback controll feature.
In combination with a touchscreen this would be some really cool stuff.

  7. I like the program, but I run it on a monitor that is oriented vertically, not horizontally. It doesn’t use the screen space very well with a vertical orientation. I’d love to send you screen shots of this, but I can’t find your email address anywhere.

Thanks for your feedback guys. Most of these were feature ideas I had been toying with, and your requests spurred me to actually implement them in Billboard 0.9.5. You can read about those changes and more at http://tomis.blogsome.com/2009/06/13/45/, and keep leaving your excellent feedback!
