New in ImagePlay 0.1.6

0.1.6 Starting Point Window

I’ve got a new Starting Points window in the works already. I think it’s a bit more ascetically pleasing, but it’s also more useful. There’s a new Templates feature I’m working on which will make it much easier to create your own set of base-projects to work from. You can start a new project and then simply select “Save as Template…” from the file menu, next time you want to start from a template you just open the Starting Points window and there it is in the list!

Another feature I’ve been debating for a while is the ability to fill-in default keywords (Author, Copyright, etc). This is something you can do in Garage Band, though it doesn’t let you set them per-project, which is what ImagePlay does.

I’ve been spending some quality time with the File/Project Browser as well. I’ve decided to totally remove the general file browsing ability from it, and redesign it in the iPhoto interface style. On the left is the information pane which displays keywords from the selected project and a “source list” which lets you create collections of projects and view the entire library. The most important feature is the search function, which was present previously. It searches through all the project tags and displays relevant results.

I think the biggest feature of 0.1.6 is going to be the overall improvement in project management. Projects, Templates and Exported Images will all be stored in separate folders. And I may even place projects into sub-folders by date, thusly allowing different projects to have the same name. This will make it much easier to handle massive numbers of projects.
